Some companies are daunted by constant inquiries regarding their industry. They do not make the time to help you find a solution if they are not making a sale. We here at NOAH take pride in assisting others to the best of our ability every day.

I met a lovely woman recently, let us call her Betty, and she is currently experiencing her worst nightmare. I thought I would share her story to hopefully help someone else avoid having the same misfortune. Betty worked hard as a nurse for many years with the dream of one day living Tiny. She wanted to pay cash for her home to avoid the obvious expense of financing. She worked extra shifts, made sacrifices, and saved, saved, saved. One day she was finally ready to buy her very own Tiny Home!

She found a builder that she liked and began to work with him on a plan. She also made sure that he was with a 3rd Party Inspection Company. Before you knew it, the project was underway! The anticipation was great as the build progressed and her move-in date neared. Betty started downsizing and streamlining her belongings, in preparation for the move.

Before she knew it, the builder called with news that her home was complete and ready for her! The day was finally here! The builder arrived early with the home the next day, set up was completed and payment rendered. Betty was very excited to get inside and start making the place her own! She had ordered everything to fit each space perfectly and according to the plans that were agreed upon between her and her builder.

Betty conceded to just get a smaller mirror for over the sink in her bathroom, but the fact that her couch did not fit really bugged her. So, she tried to reach out to her builder to see if he would move the interior wall to where it was supposed to be, according to the plans and…crickets. He was MIA, no answer via phone or email. Next Betty tried reaching out to the Inspection Company that Inspected the home, and again…crickets.

Betty decided that she had no choice but to live with her home the way it was. However, that winter she had mold show up, under her shower pan and ice along all her floor trim. It was now time to contact her attorney.

In Betty’s defense, she went with what she thought was a reputable builder and inspection company. Betty did not know to get a Bill of Sale and Title from the builder before rendering payment for the home and this created a legal nightmare when the builder ended up being non-responsive.

It is imperative to make sure that YOUR home was inspected by a LICENSED INSPECTOR and request a copy of those records if you need them. When you hand off the payment to the builder, make sure you get a signed title and bill of sale. Or better yet, choose a transparent and responsive inspection company that vets all manufacturers and their experience. Plus, the builders work is verified by a licensed inspector, and we will gladly send a copy of those records upon request. We wish only the best of results for everyone building Tiny and there are many awesome builders out there to choose from, problem is knowing which ones they are.

The Team at NOAH prides itself on customer satisfaction, and we are available to help you narrow the builder search! See our Builder Map for NOAH Manufacturers in your area!

TINY LIVING WITH PETS: IS IT POSSIBLE?

WINWORD_W0iOLdfMmj

We all love our pets and consider them part of the family. That is why it is important to pet owners to accommodate their pets even when living Tiny. There are methods for everything pet related in a Tiny House! If you own a cat, you can put their litter box in a concealed space under the stairs or in the restroom. It is also important to allocate space for pet food and supplies.

Special feeding areas for your pets are helpful. I saw a pop out drawer under the kitchen cabinet that housed a food and water bowl, and you can push the drawer in when its not in use! Cats appreciate cat walks installed upstairs and they love having a secret tunnel that leads out to their very own Catio (protected outdoor space)!

Dogs appreciate having their own space to lay down and stretch out so, a comfy dog bed may be in order underneath the counter overhang or dining room table? A dog or cat door may be useful if you allow your pets to enter and exit, as necessary. Do not forget to account for space for a kennel if your pet uses one.

Making your pets feel at home is so very important to owners. So, it is imperative that you are proactive and prepare for their needs in advance.
