NOAH TINY TALKS: BE A PART OF CREATING TINY HOUSE STANDARDS!

On Tuesdays at 5 PM Eastern I will be hosting a webinar on codes and standards, so please join me!

The regulation of tiny houses on wheels is on the horizon. I know you are busy, but the next 12 to 18 months is critical to the industry as we know it!

I don’t want to be a fearmonger or someone that uses that kind of thing to scare, however I wanted to spend a day talking about some real possibilities in the Tiny House industry.

For the most part tiny house builders are doing the best job they can trying to build safe tiny houses. However, we have seen an uptick in complaints and lawsuits against builders in the last 6 months. This is a sue crazy society we live in, and I believe most builders are doing the best they can… and know. But, the legislators and consumer advocate groups have taken notice. The laws are coming.

In my opinion…..

If they do succeed in passing laws assimilating the Tiny House industry into existing standards and codes and existing inspection methods the tiny house industry, as we know it, could or would go away, and the cost of tiny houses on wheels would go up and creativity would be stifled.

So, Colorado to protect its consumers, has passed a State Statute putting the Tiny House on Wheels into the modular program. The statute that passed in July 2022, could be a good thing if we act now. Whatever they come up with will regulate tiny houses in July 2023 and could be a model for other states.

Some others are trying to fit Tiny Houses on Wheels into the mobile home program or the IRC/Home building program.

The need for Tiny House on wheels standards and an affordable oversite method has never been greater.

On Tuesday at 5 PM Eastern I will be hosting a webinar on codes and standards, so please join me!
